CASES OF INTEREST
CHRO has picked particularly interest in the following cases of genecide and mass murder in respect of the following countries.
Northern Uganda
The Conflict in Northern Uganda for the last 20 years did generate death and suffering to the local population of nothern Uganda at a scale that can only best be described as a genocide. So far the Prosecutor general of the ICC has only deemed it appropriate to indict members associated with one party of this conflict. It is the contention of CHRO that if ever justice and accountability is to be seen to be served then elements on both side of this conflict must be investigated and brought to face international justice in respect of their participation in various acts that resulted into the holocaust of northern Uganda.
In the above respect, the CHRO has served notice to the ICC with the view of commencing unbiased investigations into what happened in northern uganda between the period 1986 upto date in respect of the various circles of conflict witnessed in the region. Please find attached here below notice served to the ICC in this respect. This matter is entered into the record of the Information and evidence unit of the ICC as case number: OTP - CR - 52/10.
Genocide in Eastern Congo
In respect of the attrocities committed by Generally Nkunda and his troops on the peoples of eastern congo, the CHRO has filed notice of intent to conduct a more robust investigation with the view of bringing Gen. Nkunda and his associates to account for the gross abuse of human rights, mass murder and genocide. CHRO contends that those who wage war must be held accountable for all death that result from war directly and indirectly consequent to the general break down of Government structures, law and order and social services provision. It is in this respect that the CHRO seeks to investigate the totality of suffering, human rights abuse, loss of life and property on the people of eastern congo. While undertaking this assignment CHRO will seek to uncover all major actors in the mayhem in eastern congo with the view of bringing justice nd accountability to bear across the board. This notice is registered in the record of the information and evidence unit of the ICC as case number: OTP - CR - 51/10
In respect of all the above instances of gross human rights abuse the CHRO, seeks to facilitate a process of unbiased independent investigations with the sole purpose of enabling the affected communities seek true holistic justice and accountability. It is the belief of CHRO that the global communitiy must show its commitment to the lives of those who may not be able to on their own guarantee their human rights. Justice and Accountability must be brought to bear every where.

Notices in respect of the following have been entered into the record of the Evidence and information unit of the ICC by the CHRO. The CHRO accordingly is proceeding to gather whatever available information to facilitate the possible prosecution of culprits in respect of the crimes mentioned in each of the following cases.
It is the earnest belief of CHRO that unless Justice is served appropriately for crimes committed in our so distant past just as much as our immediate past, circles of brutality and gross human rights abuse will keep manifesting their urgly heads even as we head into our future. It is this belief that has prompted the CHRO to seek to gain sufficient insights to all the above cases of human rights violations. |
